Steve Israel & HSLQ

New York Congressman Steve Israel meets with Edwin Perez and HSLQ members to identify much needed community programs and services.

Over the past two years HSLQ has worked with local government and community leaders to establish a recognized need to redevelop Downtown Huntington Station.

Some of our successful programs include a "Take Back the Streets" clean up which was established to get the community involved in developing pride in their neighborhoods and streets. Other notable programs include several business incubators and public safety courses.

Xavier Palacios and Edwin Perez have organized several annual events to bring the Huntington Station community together.

These events have created awareness not just in Huntington Station, but island wide. Drawing the attention of the public at large to Huntington Stations needs.

In time and with hard work from our local town residents and outside business partners. Huntington Station with regain its former historic luster as a hub to the North Shore.

Our goal is to have local and state officials contribute to the revitalization of Huntington Station and provide us with the funding needed to recreate this historic district.

Here are some of your local representatives

We need to get all local and state politicians involved and engaged in our community. It is through awareness that we can achieve our objectives.

We encourage you to contact your local and state elected officials to tell them about our local needs and invite them to our community to experience the revitalization of Huntington Station.

Click on the links of your local official and see what they have planned for our community. If there is no mention of Huntington Station... Contact them and request that they be engaged in our initiatives to revitalizes Downtown

HSLQ firmly believes that this is a contact sport. YOU need to participate!

My introduction to Huntington Station

Until about 4 months ago I had no idea Huntington Station even existed. It was just a little unknown town that I would drive through when going to Huntington Village. After meeting Laura & Xavier, I discovered a mini city of culture and colorful life. There is tremendous historic value to this discarded town. Rich in Latino culture and a community that is striving for self betterment.

I look forward to my future travels and experiences in Huntington Station. I hope that everyone that may read this blog. Take a moment and soak in some culture and history and visit downtown.

Friends of HSLQ strives to make our community a place of pride and economic prosperity.

Over the past year, Friends of HSLQ has implemented several programs at the request of members of the community. These programs include a youth wrestling program which was designed to keep children off streets and out of gangs. The program teaches safety and personal well being. HSLQ has founded a Bicycle Safety program which helps maintain safe sidewalks and educates its members on rider safety. Other programs HSLQ has implemented include empowerment seminars where women learn to speak out against violence, mentoring programs for youth, food handler certificates and several toy and food drives for the underprivileged.
