On Saturday, December 3rd HSLQ organized a Peace March that began at Lincoln Farms apartments parking lot on East 9th Street across from St. Hugh's Church. Other members and organizations of the community joined us. The march proceeded down New York Avenue towards the HSLQ headquarters at 1399 New York Avenue and concludes the march at a staging area at Manor Field.
A good representation of the community participated in the peace march that day. The continued violence in our community is troubling and demands a united front. The issues in our community require additional government redressing as well as civic engagement. We can no longer afford to lose our youth to the lure of crime. We should no longer be afraid of our streets.

The “Youth Wrestling Club” was a dream brought to fruition by HSLQ board member, Steven Palacios. As a Huntington Station native and Huntington High School graduate, Palacios hopes that the program will offer more than just wrestling safety and fundamentals to its members. He aims to install the three D’s in its participants: discipline, desire, and determination. The program is based on the belief that these three characteristics will build a sound structure for the future. “There is no sport like wrestling”, says Palacios and for that reason it is easier for the members of the club to avoid the temptations faced daily by today’s youth when they are focused on their wrestling.
